iOS 8 HealthKit
Overview
There are numerous apps on the market that monitor health and fitness individually, however, each app’s data sits in solitude, requiring users to switch between multiple apps to track their data. Apple recently unveiled a new iOS 8 app development, HealthKit, a framework which will consolidate data from multiple health and fitness apps, displaying all data in a single app interface, Health, creating a clear, concise, and complete picture of users’ health.
Fitness
HealthKit will allow users the ability to monitor all of their metrics, such as: calories burned, weight fluctuations, hours of sleep, blood pressure, blood sugar, etc. and identify trends between them. Fitness apps can share data with nutrition apps to craft a more effective workout and diet regiment.
Medicine
Doctors and patients will be able to exchange data through an integration with health providers such as Mayo Clinic and Epic Systems. Users can create an emergency medical card, accessible from the lock screen, that displays health information such as, medical conditions, allergies, and medications.
The Future of App Development
The new HealthKit app development will allow a level of health and fitness monitoring that was previously only enjoyed by professional athletes. We at Whole Wheat Creative are very excited to get our hands on the new app and continue to create innovative apps for Houston clients.
